The stop angle triangle is also known as a rafter square and has the shape of an isosceles right-angled triangle with a stop on one side. The large number of scales and cut-outs make the stop angle triangle a multifunctional tool that is ideal for marking lines and angles as well as a marking tool and saw guide. Stop angle triangles are usually made of steel, aluminium or plastic and are provided with metric units of measurement (millimetres, centimetres) or imperial units of measurement (inches). Common metric sizes include 18 cm and 30 cm as well as the imperial sizes 7 inches and 12 inches. The different scales and recesses of the stop square triangle and the practical stop edge are particularly suitable for working with wood - whether for carpentry, joinery or joinery. The stop angle triangle originally comes from America, where it is still mainly used in carpentry for roof construction and rafters. Hence the name rafter square.
